This stunning mineral specimen is nailhead calcite from Mexico. The color of the display ranges from milky to water clear.
There many layers of calcite stacked upon each other, in so many different directions. Some of the crystals are thin, and range from milky white to clear. Other crystals are a squarish shape (rhomboid).
This calcite mineral specimen glows green when under a UV light.
This display specimen measures approx 1.75 in wide by 1.5 in tall by 2.75 in long.
This is a very fragile specimen, and while we pack them with great care do not be alarmed if a few crystals decide to leave the main piece. Some of the babies are as pretty as the larger piece.
Calcite gets its name from "chalix" (the Greek word for lime).
